Tortoise and Hair has been selected as an Editor’s Pick on www.indie-music.com!
Everything’s happening so fast.
Adrienne’s (the Hair) song ‘Traveling Song’ is currently a finalist in the 2010 Indiegrrl SongWriting Contest. We’ll know in May how it turns out, but as they say ‘It’s and honor just to be nominated.’
Hear Ye, Hear Ye!
Tortoise and Hair, masquerading under the alias “Dustin and Adrienne”, has been awarded Gigmasters.com’s “Rising Star of 2009” for the category of “Acoustic Duo”. Thanks Gigmaster’s for helping us get there!
The new album gets a very positive review from esteemed music critic Wildy Haskell. “As a listener I was quickly drawn into the inner life of Tortoise And Hair. Like many of the troubadours before them, this duo breaks down barriers with honesty, intelligence and wit, all wrapped in tremendous melodies and supple arrangements” (more…)

T&H can now be heard on IM radio (www.imradio.com). Also, new album out soon.
The new project progresses! Last Tuesday we brought in slide guitar wiz Steve Cunningham to add some extra colors. It was a beautiful session.
The studio’s closed for the next two weeks, so we get a forced break (thankfully). But then it’s full speed ahead with mixing and mastering.
Earlier this month we brought the incomparable Marlon Patton and the indestructable Joe Reda into the studio to lay down some basic tracks. These guys did an awesome job! They’re quick and efficient, but at the same time, very sensitive to the music.

Since then we’ve been working on vocals, and I’ve added piano to several tracks. This album will also include several tunes without the band, Just two guitars and voices. We plan to start working on those very soon.
All this is going down at Bert Elliott’s studio in Atlanta, GA. Bert’s a top notch musician, from whom I’m continually learning. We’re fortunate to be working with him.
I predict the album will be totally finished and in our hands Decemberish. I can’t wait.

Tortoise and Hair recently began working on a new album to be due out later this year. We brought drummer Marlon Patton and bassist Joe Reda into Bert Elliot’s studio in Atlanta to lay down some preliminary tracks. Those sessions went very well, and we’re excited about finishing this thing up over the coming weeks.
