Tortoise and Hair

On Saturday January 8th, 2011, Adrienne (aka the Hair) had the honor of performing for the memorial service of five year old Camden Hiers, whose life was tragically cut short.  The candlelight gathering at Unity Christ Church was tear-filled and heart-felt.  Adrienne did renditions of “In This Life”, “One More Day”, and “Already There”. The love and pain surrounding the loss of this little boy was abundantly palpable at his service, making this performance one of the more difficult, yet beautiful and memorable of Adrienne’s career.

Tortoise and Hair had a great weekend out and about in the community. Friday night after helping provide music at Temple Emmanuel in Dunwoody, we headed over to our stomping grounds, D’Vine Wine Bar, where the fabulous LBcolllective was performing. They featured a song or two from their upcoming album, which we’ll all be looking forward to. They also invited us up to the stage for a couple of tunes. The music was spontaneous, natural, and fun!

Then, on Saturday, we performed in Lenox Mall at an event to raise awareness about domestic violence, put on by the organization Saving Promise. There, we met Colton and Zara whose compelling melodies and infectious positive energy were instantly captivating. They were warm and friendly enough not only to pray with us (In the Middle of Atlanta’s biggest mall, mind you) but also to invite us to come hang out and play music with them in Nashville.

Watch out guys, we just might take you on that.

Everything’s happening so fast.

Adrienne’s (the Hair) song ‘Traveling Song’ is currently a finalist in the 2010 Indiegrrl SongWriting Contest. We’ll know in May how it turns out, but as they say ‘It’s and honor just to be nominated.’

Hear Ye, Hear Ye!

Tortoise and Hair, masquerading under the alias “Dustin and Adrienne”, has been awarded Gigmasters.com’s “Rising Star of 2009” for the category of “Acoustic Duo”. Thanks Gigmaster’s for helping us get there!
