Faultline

I was born on the Faultline,

where the earth makes its peace with itself

where the East bears the grief of the West,

and it ain’t for no ordinary soul.

Well I live on the Faultline,

where strangers seldom come,

yeah they stay for a season and they’re gone,

and they wonder who would ever call this home.

You can feel it in your gut when the earth starts to move,

but the feeling doesn’t leave you even when the quake is through.

When you live on the Faultline,

you will build your house of stone,

you will build a wall around your home,

and if it stands when the rest have fallen down,

then you will know that you can live on the Faultline.
