One More Time
She kissed his face, crept out the door…….words won’t do them anymore.
She knew the end the night before,
no need to check the final score.
They could glue this thing back one more time but what for?
Two weeks notice and he’s through.
This place won’t give him what he’s due.
Any way you look at it you lose.
Only one thing left for him to do.
All that running and he’s sure to wear out those shoes.
We’re all trying to make a little sense of what’s left of the pieces.
Forestall any real kind of look at the doubt that increases,
One more time.
Have I told myself a line,
you just need a little time,
but your words all twist and bind,
and you won’t let me know you’re mind.
Could it be that our paths do not align?
We’re all trying to make a little sense of what’s left of the pieces.
Forestall any real kind of look at the doubt that increases,
One more time.
